The only comfort for the Democrats is that the Republicans are "Old People´s Party", but as younger Americans don´t bother to vote, that ain´t much of a consolation. But it gives an idea why the Republicans are not bothered so much by the Iraq war; if you are in your late middle-age or a pensioner, there´s a pretty low probablity of finding yourself to be given a rifle and put on a airplane to Iraq.
