WOMAN DIES AS ISRAEL CONTINUES TO ATTACK BESIEGED GAZA STRIP

ATTACKS CONTINUE

Israel continued on Thursday to attack besieged Gaza Strip. Air-strikes which had started on Wednesday evening were continued, as were shelling by artillery and tanks, and rocket fire.

Israel's occupation forces also crossed into Gaza; a convoy of seven to eight armoured vehicles destroyed agricultural land near Rafah up to 150 meters away from the border; same area had seen another incursion a day earlier.

Hamas also claims several other land incursions advancing up to 300 meters into Gaza which are not mentioned in other sources we have seen.

Israel's military representatives claimed that eight sites connected to Hamas had been targeted, but all six casualties known currently - one dead and five wounded - are civilians, and most targeted areas have been either agricultural or empty and one was an observation post of Islamic Jihad's armed wing.

The same military representatives have claimed that Israel's occupation forces had been targeted ten times, with resistance ranging from bullets to mortar shells.

ISRAEL MAKES CLAIMS ABOUT TUNNELS

Israel's occupation forces also claim that it had targeted "Hamas' tunnels" with air-strikes and discovered a tunnel ending near a settlement near the besieged coastal enclave. In different sources the extent of the tunnel differs from 30 meters to 100 meters.

Israel claims it was found after a man named Mahmud Atawnah(29) aka Mahmoud Atuna, whom it calls "Hamas' tunnel expert" was allegedly captured after crossing the border fence in early April, and supposedly revealed information about Hamas' tunnels.

Considering that Israeli occupation says it has charged Atawnah in court its unlikely that this has been a defection, and so the manner that information - real or false - would have been extracted from him is unlikely to have been gotten according to human rights and international law.

According to Hamas Israel discovered the tunnel already back in 2014. (This last detail via Omar Ghraieb.)

THE VICTIMS

Early in the evening Jana Aytah al-Amur, whose name is also written as Aisha al-Amour, Zeina al-Amour, Attia Amour and Zaina Emour in different sources, was wounded as Israel shelled the area of al-Fakhari east of Khan Younis. Arriving in a hospital in a very critical condition, she soon perished.

She was aged 50, 53, 54, 55 or 57 according to different sources. According to one source two youths were wounded at the same incident.

She has already been buried with hundreds of people taking part in her funeral.

Earlier in the day Hassan Hassanien(62 or 65) and three children from the same family were wounded when a metal workshop was hit in al-Zaytoun. The wounded were hit by fragments and shrapnel, with the elderly Hassanien hit in hand and shoulder.

Khazima al-Farra(21) was wounded in an air-strike in eastern Rafah's al-Rayyan.
