UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL WORKING GROUP ON ARBITRARY DETENTION DEMANDS ISRAEL RELEASES HARES BOYS

We tell you about the latest turn in the tale of legal injustice the five Hares boys imprisoned by Israel are experiencing. The boys are Mohammed Kleib, Mohammad Suleiman, Ali Shamlawi, Ammar Souf and Tamer Souf and their fate is an example Israel's total disregard for law, justice and the rights of children.

THE UN STATEMENT

United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has issued a statement that Israel broke international law numerous times in the imprisonment, treatment and sentencing of one of the Hares Boys (identity not given), that the imprisonment, charges and trial were without basis and that Israel is bound by the Convention of the Rights of the Child to follow it's recommendations: The boys must be freed immediately and paid reparations.

The statement was released in June 3rd, although the opinion was adopted by the Working Group during its 75th session on April 18-27th.

NO RELEASE LIKELY

This doesn't mean that the boys will be freed. Israel's regime had refused the Working Group's attempts to contact it and will ignore this statement without strong offside pressure, which, we can easily assume, won't be coming. The boys will continue to be buried alive in Apartheid Israel's dungeons if activists won't act and be able to bring political and media attention and pressure on Israel.

THE WITCH-HUNT

The appalling witch hunt against the Hares boys which started in March 2013 culminated late last year, when Israel forced the boys' - imprisoned and tortured to confess when aged 15-16 - to accept 15 years imprisonment for a 'crime' that did not happen. The families were also blackmailed to pay large fines, partly funded through crowdfunding, or otherwise the boys would have been imprisoned for an even longer period.

A traffic accident involving illegal Israeli settlers' was turned by the Israeli occupation in to "crime" supposedly caused by 'stone-throwing' of which there was no evidence of. The boys were selected to be sacrificial victims to Israeli Apartheid from a the ranks of local group of children rounded up by the occupation and wrtr then kept imprisoned for over two years until an illegal Israeli settler child injured in the traffic accident had died and the boys grown older.

Keeping children imprisoned until they are adults or at least older is a standard feature of Israeli occupation military "law", that mockery of justice. Which in the case of Hares boys was not publicly opposed by any other state or international human rights organization, even when every effort was made by the families and Palestinian and international activists to gain publicity for the boys' plight, but everything fell largely to silent ears it seemed, no one cared.

The boys were Palestinians, their lives didn't matter. For each stone illegal Israeli settlers and the Israeli occupation claimed were thrown on a road the Israeli occupation prosecutor demanded sentence of intended murder. It was Jim Crow "law" and the world allowed it, as one 'Western' politician after another has during these years of their imprisonment made pilgrimage to Israel to show support for the same regime and its leader Netanyahu which destroyed the five innocent' boys life.

As we now have learned, United Nations Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention did notice and take action, but it did out of the public eye, which was a serious mistake on its part. Acting in public it could have had real effect on the boys' fate in the hands of Apartheid Israel's system of Jim Crow "justice".

We must now bring attention to the Working Group's statement in every way possible in social media and to act to get both press and politicians notice what has been done to the boys, as much as they try to avoid it.

Please, visit the sources below, spread them and this post & all other posts about this issue and remember to boycott Israel. Every action on their behalf, no matter how small, helps the boys compared to not doing anything.
