IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY August 15th: ISRAEL PLANS TO CLOSE THE ITALIAN BUILD SCHOOL IN KHAN AL-AHMAR

IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY August 15th: ISRAEL PLANS TO CLOSE THE ITALIAN BUILD SCHOOL IN KHAN AL-AHMAR

According to unconfirmed news, Israel's regime has informed the ambassador of Italy that a school build by Italian aid organization Vento di Terra in the Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar in the E1 area east of East Jerusalem will be closed.

The school, which opened in 2009, was build from clay, tires and wood because Israeli occupation forbid the use of concrete.

Israeli occupation ordered the school to be destroyed a month after it was opened, for "being too close to a road". An appeal to a court saved the school then and from three consecutive petitions from illegal Israeli settlers to have it destroyed, but Israel has destroyed equipment donated to the school by Italy.

Allegedly it's now to be closed for being "built in unsafe and unhealthy environment". The real reason is that Israel's regime wants to clear the E1 area from remaining Palestinian population and build it up with illegal colonies to close occupied East Jerusalem from the West Bank.

This happens under the eyes of the so-called 'Western' countries which have been aware of the plans for decades but just can't rouse themselves to do anything to stop it.

FORMER POLITICAL PRISONER NAIM AL-SHAWAMREH HAS DIED

FORMER POLITICAL PRISONER NAIM AL-SHAWAMREH HAS DIED

@Razan_Palestine alerted us to the news that the long-suffering former Palestinian political prisoner Naim al-Shawamreh(1968-2016) has died.

NINETEEN YEARS IMPRISONMENT

Israeli occupation detained al-Shawamreh in 1994 for resistance activities against Israel's occupation forces and illegal Israeli settlers in Hebron and sentenced him to be imprisoned for life.

He was finally released on January 1st 2014, arriving home in an ambulance and being unable to walk and barely talk.

CLAIMS OF MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE AND INTENTIONAL HARMING BY ISRAELI PRISON AUTHORITIES

His health had collapsed rather suddenly in the spring of 2013. His family has claimed that this happened after he was given a pill against his will by Israel's occupation prison services' staff. There was also claims of injections given to him of whose content he was not told and use of un-sterilized instruments in a medical operation.

At the very least there is a strong indication that he was a victim of a medical negligence during the last part of his imprisonment after symptoms first appeared.

WHAT HE SUFFERED FROM

Two different diseases have been brought up as being behind his decline in health: Muscular dystrophy which is often of genetic and not necessarily fatal with treatment, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis whose causes are not usually known and which is always fatal.

ATTEMPTS AT TREATMENT AFTER BEING FREED

After Israel initially tried to block him being moved abroad for treatment, he went through treatment first in Jordan and then in Germany, and a surgery in occupied Palestine's Hebron. Any improvement in his health - it seems he briefly regained ability to speak - was soon lost.

A YOUNG LIFE CUT SHORT: ISRAEL KILLS A TEENAGE BOY

17 y/o Muhammad Abu Hashhash was shot in heart with a live bullet during Israel's occupation forces' attack on al-Fawwar refugee camp earlier today and apparently the occupation forces' delayed an ambulance carrying him from leaving the camp for an hour.

He lived until he reached a hospital in the city of Hebron, where he announced dead later on the afternoon.

32-35 other people were wounded during the attack on al-Fawwar refugee camp, one in a series of attacks by Israel's occupation forces on the West Bank today. Beyond al-Fawwar, another target in the Hebron district was Jurat al-Kheil near the town of Sair.

In al-Fawwar refugee camp the occupation ransacked homes, claiming to be searching for weapons that could be used against the occupation forces and illegal Israeli settlers. Among the finds Israeli occupation points out especially 'one commando knife'. A sign of both the absurdity and fear of the occupation regime.

In Anata, Bethlehem Jamal al-Mukabbir in East Jerusalem and Sair's Jurat al-Kheil Israel's occupation forces destroyed the homes of 70 people, a barn, a car dealership employing 15 people, several wells and other structures.

According to the owner of the car dealership in Anata, Israeli occupation had not given any announcement beforehand that his company's building would be destroyed.

On the morning of Sunday August 14th 13 y/o Abdulrahman Shweiki was selling cakes on a street in Wadi Hilweh area of occupied East Jerusalem's Silwan, when three men speaking Hebrew (assumed to be illegal Israeli settlers) stepped out of car and approached him.

One of the men grabbed the boy from his t-shirt, tearing it, afterwards which the men kicked him and hit him in a shoulder.

The attackers stopped the attack and left after some local youths arrived at the scene of the incident.

15 Y/O GIRL ARRESTED BY ISRAELI OCCUPATION AFTER ALLEGED 'STABBING' OF OCCUPATION SOLDIER

15 y/o girl Amal Jamal Qabha and her parents were arrested on Sunday August 14th by Israel's occupation forces after she allegedly 'stabbed' Israel's occupation forces' female soldier after she had left a vehicle at the site.

The incident allegedly happened at evening on a checkpoint near the illegal Israeli colony of Shaqed in the Jenin district of West Bank. The allegedly 'stabbed' occupation soldier suffered 'light injuries' according to the Israeli occupation and 'scratches' according to a Palestinian news source.

Although there are claims that shots were fired, Amal Qabha was apparently arrested without being injured. Later her parents were kidnapped from their home by Israel's occupation forces.

A WEEK IN BESIEGED GAZA: FROM MONDAY AUGUST 8TH TO SUNDAY AUGUST 14TH

A WEEK IN BESIEGED GAZA: FROM MONDAY AUGUST 8TH TO SUNDAY AUGUST 14TH

This is not a complete collection of major incidents connected to the Israeli occupation's siege of Gaza Strip during this period, but only represents some of the incidents considered both important and illustrative of the current situation.

MONDAY:

Israeli occupation announced it had kidnapped engineer Waheed al-Bursh, who works for United Nations Development Program.

The bizarre accusation which Israel uses against al-Bursh in a coming show trial is that he would have delivered 300 tons of a rubble to 'a Hamas run facility', which would be 'material assistance to terrorism'.

Israel's regime declared that al-Bursh had 'confessed' to all this in the hands of Shin Bet, which routinely tortures imprisoned Palestinians.

UNDP Special Representative of the Administrator, El Salvadorian Roberto Valent, in the immediate aftermath refused to support the engineer, condemn his kidnapping and contest the Israeli occupation's claims.

Instead he declared the usual mantra of being "greatly concerned" and having ordered "internal review of the processes and circumstances surrounding the allegation".

As an afterthought wishfully Valent wishfully said that the kidnapped engineer al-Bursh "should be accorded all due legal process and has the right to a fair trial."

Australian UN Coordinator Robert Piper made the same pious wish while already declaring his "unreserved condemnation" against al-Bursh, who had at that point almost certainly been tortured. He has made no new announcements after the most recent developments, unlike Valent.

All with even a slight knowledge of what Palestinians face in these circumstances knows that al-Bursh has no rights in Israeli occupation's hands and will face a political show trial.

It would take almost a week for Valent to deny Israel's crimes and declare that the accusations against al-Bursh are wrong.

This is a part of a wider Israeli occupation attack against humanitarian organizations working in the besieged Gaza Strip; an attack loyally supported by the so-called 'Western' media - which faithfully reports Israel's claims without any attempt critical journalism - and 'Western' politicians who automatically support these accusations, treating them as a 'truth'.

TUESDAY:

Rabeh Abu Mandil from al-Mughazi refugee camp was detained by Israel's occupation forces while he was crossing a border fence from Gaza Strip to ethnically cleansed Palestine 1948.

He was released on Friday.

To support Israel's tightening stranglehold on charities operating in the besieged Gaza Strip, Germany joined Australia in stopping donations for World Vision's work in the tiny enclave.

That World Vision says Israel's claim of up to 50 million dollars worth of aid being channeled to Hamas by kidnapped World Vision official Mohammed al-Halabi is 'hard to reconcile' with the fact that total World Vision aid to Gaza Strip was only 22.5 million dollars during the period Israel cites, makes little difference these states.

WEDNESDAY:

Israel's occupation forces' navy fired at fishermen of Khan Younis and Rafah in southern part of the Gaza Strip without causing injuries.

Farmers working at their lands in central part of Gaza had to stop after being fired at by Israel's occupation forces.

8 people suffered light to moderate injuries as a result of the collapse of a tunnel in al-Shujayya in eastern Gaza Strip.

The injured are said to be members of a resistance group, but there was no information available to us of which resistance group is in question.

Over 140 people were killed in a single day in al-Shujayya during Israel's attack in 2014.

THURSDAY:

Israel's occupation forces' navy opened fire at Palestinian fishermen off Gaza City, preventing them from sailing and forcing them to return to land.

Israel's occupation forces opened fire from military towers at farmers and shepherds at Deir al-Balah in the central part of Gaza Strip.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

FRIDAY

Israel's occupation forces' helicopters and drones flew over central Gaza Strip.

Israeli navy fired at and shelled Palestinian fishermen off the coast at four locations: Off at al-Sudaniya, al-Waha Beit Lahiya and Rafah. Some boats suffered damage.

Attack at 07:00 am forced fishermen to escape the fire by jumping into the sea from their boats off al-Waha.

5 fishermen were kidnapped: Saed Jom’a Bakr, Mahmoud Saed Bakr, Ibrahim Saed Bakr, Yasser Nasser Bakr and Ahmad Mahmoud al-Louh. (List from IMEMC.)

They were released later that evening, but their boats remain confiscated.

It's possible that the air and naval, which happened at the same time, were coordinated.

Later on Friday Israel's occupation forces' snipers shot at protesters at the 'buffer zone' Israeli occupation has declared inside besieged Gaza, wounding a 23 y/o youth lightly in his legs.

SATURDAY:

Hamas' military wing al-Qassam Brigades' member Muhammad Shlouf from Gaza City died of electric shock while working inside a resistance tunnel, latest in a significant number of deaths this year connected to resistance and not smuggling tunnels.

Israel's occupation forces' military vehicle opened fire at apparently empty area of land in Khan Younis. No injuries were reported.

SUNDAY:

UNDP's Roberto Valent finally stepped up to support engineer al-Bursh kidnapped by Israel.

According to Valent, al-Bursh had no administrative powers to decide where the rubble in question should be delivered and that UNDP's tests had showed the rubble had been delivered in the right place.

This is a small consolation for al-Bursh, who faces a kangaroo trial in Israeli occupation's hands and an imprisonment for several years.

AN OLD APARTHEID DOG CAN'T LEARN NEW TRICKS: ISRAELI OCCUPATION'S REACTION TO THE HUNGER-STRIKE OF BILAL KAYED

The idea of a separation of powers in Israel is an illusion. Civil judiciary is utterly beholden to the political organs of the state and the military with its own courts.

So the news that hunger-striker Bilal Kayed's appeal against his imprisonment without a charge - aka 'administrative detention', based on a British mandate era colonial law - is set to be heard by Israel's High Court in October is no surprise.

Instead of being a separate entity taking 'an objective' view of a judicial case, the High Court is part of a government-wide system trying to break Bilal Kayed's hunger-strike.

The decision to keep Bilal Kayed shackled to his hospital bed is yet an another standard piece of the theater of cruelty Israel's regime enacts during each hunger-strike.

It's supposedly a show of strength from the occupation regime, intended to weaken the hunger-striker's determination, but it never works yet Israel sticks with it because an old Apartheid dog can't learn new tricks.

Comparing Bilal Kayed's now 60 day long hunger-strike to previous hunger-strikes, Israeli regime's tactics are copied from a hunger-strike to a hunger-strike. Tactics which in nine cases out of ten fail to break the determination of the hunger-striker in question.

The regime knows it has to negotiate, it knows it has to release the hunger-striker eventually and that there is room for 'a face-saving' deal which will allow the hunger-striker to be imprisoned a little longer so that the Israeli regime can claim it hasn't suffered a total defeat.

Yet it refuses to negotiate until very late and goes through the same antics, like this would be a some kind of long-running theater show where the High Court wearily makes the same kind of appearance each time in support of the regime's other Hydra's heads.

The moment the Israeli regime decided not to release Bilal Kayed when his sentence ended it knew there would be a hunger-strike. It decided to start a public contest between oppression and freedom and which oppression, it itself, was set to lose from the beginning. It must have known this from previous experience, yet it went ahead anyway, set on its tracks which is typical for oppressive regimes like it.

When Bilal Kayed is finally free, we might even thank Israel for this opportunity to bring light to the situation of the over seven hundred Palestinian political prisoners imprisoned by the Israeli occupation without a charge or conviction.

But until then we must support Bilal Kayed, bring publicity to solidarity activities in support of him and use this opportunity to demand freedom for other re-arrested hunger-strikers like Samer Issawi and his siblings, who suffer at his side because Israel's regime can't forgive those who win the fight of empty stomachs against it's empire of gulags and steel bars of prison cages.

Samer Issawi had his moment of victory and freedom, Bilal Kayed will have his, the struggle will go on and eventually Samer and Bilal will both be free in a free Palestine.

IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY August 5th: Palestine takes part in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics

Six athletes will represent Palestine when the Summer Olympics will be officially opened today at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The Palestine Olympics team consists of:

- Mohammed Abu Khoussa, taking part in men's 100 meter run.
- Mary Al-Atrash, taking part in women's 50 meter freestyle swim.
- Mayada Al-Sayad, taking part in women's Marathon.
- Ahmed Gebrel, taking part in men's 200 meter freestyle swim.
- Simon Yacoub, taking part in men's 60 kg Judo.
- Christian Zimmermann, taking part in Dressage with the horse Aramis.

Occupier Israel has been causing problems for both athletes and sport officials travelling with the team.

It has stopped the team's gear at customs and then pretended it has no knowledge of this, and not given permit for team leader Issam Qishta to leave the Gaza Strip.

Israeli official has claimed that it's 'working' to allow Qishta to leave - when talking to representatives 'Western' media.

JOURNALIST OMAR NAZZAL BECOMES ONE OF 325 PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS ON HUNGER-STRIKE

JOURNALIST OMAR NAZZAL BECOMES ONE OF 325 PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONERS ON HUNGER-STRIKE

Leading Palestinian journalist Omar Nazzal began a hunger-strike on August 4th to demand his freedom. A campaign to support him has been organized by a group of 185 other Palestinian journalists.

Israeli occupation kidnapped Omar Nazzal at the al-Karameh crossing to Jordan on April 23rd as he was on his way to a journalism conference in Bosnia-Herzegovina which was organized by the European Union. He has been imprisoned without charge since.

Nazzal is a member of the General Secretariat of the Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate and has been a strong supporter of fellow journalists targeted by the Israeli occupation, vocally condemning their treatment.

Although all 'evidence' is secret in Israel's military courts when it comes to administrative detention - imprisonment without charge - supporters of the Israeli occupation claim that Nazzal's ties to PLO's second largest member group, the left-wing PFLP, would have supposedly played a role in his kidnapping and imprisonment.

Over 50 Palestinian journalists have been detained by Israel's occupation forces since October 2015. 'Western' human rights organizations, 'Western' press freedom organizations and 'Western' journalists working in Israel and Palestine have responded to this with a wall of silence.

A total of 325 Palestinian political prisoners are on hunger-strike currently, among them brothers Muhammad(26) and Mahmoud(23) Balboul, who have been on hunger-strike for over 30 days.

They are imprisoned without charge and their sister Nuran(14) was imprisoned by the Israeli occupation for three months for a supposed possession of a knife. The siblings'father was al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade commander Ahmad Balboul, who was killed by Israel in 2008.

The spear-point of the hunger-strikers is currently Bilal Kayed, who has been on hunger-strike for 52 days. Kayed, imprisoned since December 14th 2001 completed his sentence from Israel's military court in early June, but Israel has refused to release him and has imprisoned him without charge. He has intensified his hunger-strike by refusing to see doctors.

A wave of solidarity hunger-strikes has formed around his struggle, including that of PFLP's imprisoned leader Ahmed Sa'adat who is among the highest-ranking Palestinian political prisoners. Sa'adat has been moved to solitary confinement as a result of his hunger-strike.

Among other high profile hunger-strikers are circus performer Muhammed Abu Sakha and Hassan Karajah, leader of non-violent resistance against Israel's illegal Apartheid and Annexation Wall. Both are imprisoned without charge.

IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY from August 4th: Collective punishment in Yatta

IPNOT PICTURE OF THE DAY from August 4th: Collective punishment in Yatta

Israel's occupation forces invaded the town of Yatta during the night of August 3rd - 4th and destroyed the family homes of cousins Khalid and Muhammad Makhamreh.

Israel accuses the two cousins of carrying out a shooting in Tel Aviv on June 8th which directly killed three people and led to the death of a fourth through a heart-attack. Twelve people were injured, including both of the cousins of whom one has suffered brain damage.

One of the homes belonging to the immediate families of the two cousins - and not them themselves - was exploded by remote detonation and another one was bulldozed.

Collective punishment is a war crime in international law, but as a result of the support and protection of the so-called 'Western' countries, Israel continues to practice it with impunity with the town of Yatta already having being besieged in the aftermath of the Tel Aviv shooting for an extended period.
