ISRAELI OCCUPATION KILLS JOURNALISM STUDENT IN QALANDIA REFUGEE CAMP
Last night Israel's occupation forces killed 22 y/o journalism student Iyad Omar Sajadiyya in Qalandia refugee camp north of East Jerusalem. He was a contributor to the Qalandia Media Center and was observing Israeli occupation invasion of the refugee camp.
Between 12 and 17 other Palestinians and 10 Israel's occupation forces soldiers were wounded in events that started as Israeli military vehicle was attacked and burned in the refugee camp.
According to Israeli media, an army driver and battalion commander from Oketz K-9 unit had driven in the refugee camp in "error" after trying to navigate using the Israeli developed Waze map application. Palestinian sources have questioned this, claiming that it would be very unlikely to end up in Qalandia in error.
After their vehicle was destroyed, the two Israeli occupation soldiers fled in apparently different directions and hid. A claim that they would have been briefly held by resistance fighters seem to be wrong.
Israeli occupation sent in large numbers of military vehicles and soldiers, some undercover pretending to be Palestinian civilians, and helicopters to extract the occupation soldier.
This led to clashes with local youths - and after the two occupation soldiers had been extracted - with some elements of local resistance factions which exchanged fire with the occupation forces.
At some point during these events Iyad Sajadiyya was shot by Israel's occupation forces sniper and was wounded in head. Israeli occupation stopped some Palestinian ambulances from entering Qalandia, but one succeeded evacuating Sajadiyya, but he died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
The killed youth was buried today. He was at least the 187th Palestinian directly killed by Israel's occupation forces and illegal Israeli settlers since October 1st.
Iyad Sajadiyya's father Omar told the media after his son's death that: "My only son Iyad died a martyr in sacrifice for Palestine. He wasn't the first martyr, nor will he be the last."
