JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Palestinian detainee and former hunger striker Samer al-Issawi is in deteriorating condition, his family said after visiting him, an activist said Monday.

Badie Dweik said Issawi was visited by his family at Jalbou prison, where they noticed he was feeble, his face was pale, he seemed fatigued, and he suffered from noticeable weight loss.

Issawi complained about pain in his kidneys and difficulties in eating.

Dweik said Israeli authorities had prevented Issawi’s lawyer from visiting him since late June.
