UN plan to save Iraq's marshlands.

The destruction of Iraq´s southern marshes began before Saddam Hussein´s
reign and deliberate destruction of the marshes is only one of the reasons for
their reducement to just 5% of their previous size; the rivers carry less water
to southern Iraq because of the use of water upriver has risen massively, with
great dams build in Turkey and Syria.
